The following is from Is Genesis History?:
A Brief History of Everything According to Genesis: Introduction & Timeline My 13-year-old daughter recently showed me a geography textbook that said the Rocky Mountains were formed millions of years ago. Realizing this sort of age was far older than the one given in the Bible, she asked how the formation of the Rocky mountains fit into the timeline of earth history according to Genesis. It was a good question. She could just as easily have asked about the stars, or plant fossils, or different types of animals, or ancient civilizations, or countless other things. So where does everything fit? Read more: https://isgenesishistory.com/a-brief-history-everything-according-genesis/

"Atheism is a learned pathology." ~ Christian apologist Alex McFarland To my atheist friends: You are NOT an atheist. To make a declaration that "there is no God" is a logical fallacy. Here's why: A) In order to make an absolute statement that there is "no God" you would have to have absolute knowledge (visible and invisible) of the entire universe. That's like me saying that there is no such thing as a pink rock with purple dots. I would have to have searched every nook and cranny in the entire universe to make an absolute statement like that. B) In order to have complete knowledge of the entire universe (visible and invisible) you would have to be omniscient (all-knowing) thereby making you God and consequently refuting your own argument, "there is no God". So my dear friend, you may be an agnostic*, but you are NOT an atheist - there is no such thing, logically speaking. The Bible says in Psalm 14:1 "The fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that does good." The Bible also says that the "atheist" is without excuse and that God's wrath is reserved for those who deny Him. “FLEE FROM THE WRATH TO COME” by Charles Spurgeon I remark, first, that this “wrath to come” is absolutely just and necessary. If there is a God, He cannot let sin go unpunished. If He is really God, and the Judge of all the earth, He must have an utter abhorrence of all evil. It cannot be possible that He should think the same of the honest and the dishonest, of the chaste and the unchaste, of the sober and the drunken, of the truthful and the lying, of the gracious and the dissolute. Such a god as that would be one whom men might rightly despise; but the true God, if we understand aright what He is, must hold all sin in detestation. All evil must be utterly abhorrent to His pure and holy soul; and it is not only because He can do it, but because He must do it, that He will, one of these days, let loose the fury of His wrath against sin. As it is necessary, in the very nature of things, that there should be certain laws to govern His creation, so is it equally necessary, in the very nature of things, that sin should be punished, and that every transgression and disobedience should receive a just recompense of reward. This is the inevitable consequence of sin; there is nothing arbitrary about such a result. It is fixed, in the very nature of things, that “for every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account in the Day of Judgment;” and for every sinful action, they must appear before the bar of God. Do not think when we speak about the wrath of God, that we picture God to you as a tyrant. We do but tell you that this is only the nature of things—that just as if you take poison, it will kill you; or if you indulge in drunkenness, or if you take almost any form of disease, it will bring pain and mischief to you—so sin must bring upon you the wrath of God, it cannot be otherwise. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but not one jot or tittle of God’s law can pass away till all is fulfilled, and one part of that law requires that He should punish all transgression, iniquity, and sin. And if now, for a time, the full manifestation of that anger is delayed, I beseech you, men and brethren, do not therefore trifle with it. The longer God’s arm is uplifted, the more terrible will be the blow when at last He strikes. To sin against the patience and long-suffering of Almighty God, is to sin with a vengeance. You do, as it were, defiantly put your finger into the very eye of God when you know that He sees you sin, and yet you go on sinning because He does not immediately take vengeance upon you for all your evil works. It is in great love that He restrains His wrath, for He is “slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.” But as a torrent, that is dammed up for a while, gathers force and strength, and every hour i which it is kept back it gets to be more irresistible, so must it be with “the wrath to come” when at last it does come upon you. If it has waited for some of you for seventy, or sixty, or fifty, or even for twenty years, it will come as an overwhelming flood when at last it bursts the barriers which at present hold it back. Trifle not, therefore, with that long-suffering of God which may be blest to your salvation. (Excerpted from “FLEE FROM THE WRATH TO COME”, SERMON NO. 2704, A SERMON BY C. H. SPURGEON, AT THE METROPOLITAN TABERNACLE, NEWINGTON, ON LORD’S-DAY EVENING, OCTOBER 23, 1881. PDF) Deconstructing Darwin: Darwin’s Real Message (Creation.com Article Podcast) Description: The myth of the ‘kindly slow-witted naturalist stumbling across evolution’ was fostered by an autobiography Darwin wrote as a deliberately self-effacing moral homily for his children, not intending it to be published. Darwin was fully aware that his idea was a frontal assault on the very notion of an intelligent Designer behind the world. In fact, he might very well have formulated it precisely for that purpose. By Carl Wieland (Originally published September, 1992) Listen here. The following is from Creation Ministries International: Darwin’s real message: have you missed it? by Carl Wieland Harvard’s renowned Professor Stephen Jay Gould1 was a vigorous anticreationist (and Marxist — see documentation), and perhaps the most knowledgeable student of the history of evolutionary thought and all things Darwinian. [He passed away in 2002.] We were on the same side about one thing at least—the real meaning of ‘Darwin’s revolution’. And we both agreed that it’s a meaning that the vast majority of people in the world today don’t really want to face up to. Gould argued that Darwin’s theory was inherently anti-plan, anti-purpose, anti-meaning (in other words, was pure philosophical materialism). Also, that Darwin himself knew this very well and meant it to be so. By ‘materialism’ he does not mean the drive to possess more and more material things, but the philosophical belief that matter is the only reality. In this belief system, matter, left to itself, produced all things, including the human brain. This brain then invented the idea of the supernatural, of God, of eternal life, and so forth. It seems obvious why Christians who wish to compromise with evolution, and especially those who encourage others to do this, would not want to face this as the true meaning of Darwinism. Such ‘theistic evolutionists’ believe they can accept the ‘baby’ of evolution (thus saving face with the world) while throwing out the ‘bathwater’ of materialism. I will not here go into the many reasons why the evolution/long geological ages idea is so corrosive to the biblical Gospel2 (even if evolution could be seen as the plan and purpose of some ‘god’). This is why: Let's imagine that you are a professing atheist. Here are two questions for you to answer: First, do you know the combined weight of all the sand on all the beaches of Hawaii? We can safely assume that you don't. This brings us to the second question: Do you know how many hairs are on the back of a fully-grown male Tibetan yak? Probably not. It is therefore reasonable to conclude that there are some things that you don't know. It is important to ask these questions because there are some people who think they know everything. Let's say that you know an incredible one percent of all the knowledge in the universe. To know 100 percent, you would have to know everything. There wouldn't be a rock in the universe that you would not be intimately familiar with, or a grain of sand that you would not be aware of. You would know everything that has happened in history, from that which is common knowledge to the minor details of the secret love life of Napoleon's great-grandmother's black cat's fleas. You would know every hair of every head, and every thought of every heart. All history would be laid out before you, because you would be omniscient (all-knowing). If they are really made in the image of God as the Bible teaches (Genesis 1:27), then that fact must have some results. They, like all of us, are fallen (as explained in Genesis 3), but even so must still have an in-built sense of the reality and the importance of right and wrong.
Originally posted 9/9/2014 The following is from Compelling Truth: Faith vs. science. Is there a contradiction between faith in God and science? Faith in God and belief in science will never contradict if God, in fact, exists and is the Creator of the universe. If God is the Creator of the universe, and there is ample evidence that He is, then science is just knowledge or a system of knowledge covering general truths about His creation. If God doesn't exist, then faith and science will contradict since science is the search for facts about the cosmos. For those with faith, however, science can be one of our greatest forms of worship. Science is mankind's attempt to understand how the world works. The scientific method is one of the greatest tools to accomplish this. It starts with a question about the world. Then background research, a hypothesis or educated guess about the research, an experiment, analysis to determine if the hypothesis was correct, and the report of the results. If the hypothesis was correct, the cycle is finished. If not, another hypothesis is put forth, and testing begins again. The scientific method infers that a provable fact will be repeatable and verifiable—that other scientists will come up with the same answer if their experiment is performed in the same way. Originally posted 4/30/2017 The following is from Answers in Genesis: Atheism: An Irrational Worldview by Jason Lisle Atheists are “coming out of the closet” and becoming more vocal about their message that “there is no God.” Professor Richard Dawkins (Britain’s leading atheist) is encouraging those who share his views to express their opinion. Author of The God Delusion, Dawkins says he wants to “free children from being indoctrinated with the religion of their parents or their community.” Will Christians be prepared to “give an answer” to the atheists’ claims? Materialistic atheism is one of the easiest worldviews to refute. A materialistic atheist believes that nature is all that there is. He believes that there is no transcendent God who oversees and maintains creation. Many atheists believe that their worldview is rational—and scientific. However, by embracing materialism, the atheist has destroyed the possibility of knowledge, as well as science and technology. In other words, if atheism were true, it would be impossible to prove anything! Here’s Why Reasonng involves using the laws of logic. These include the law of non-contradiction which says that you can’t have A and not-A at the same time and in the same relationship. For example, the statement “My car is in the parking lot, and it is not the case that my car is in the parking lot” is necessarily false by the law of non-contradiction. Any rational person would accept this law. But why is this law true? Why should there be a law of non-contradiction, or for that matter, any laws of reasoning? The Christian can answer this question. For the Christian there is an absolute standard for reasoning; we are to pattern our thoughts after God’s. The laws of logic are a reflection of the way God thinks. The law of non-contradiction is not simply one person’s opinion of how we ought to think, rather it stems from God’s self-consistent nature. God cannot deny Himself (2 Timothy 2:13), and so, the way God upholds the universe will necessarily be non-contradictory. RATIONAL REASONING WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE WITHOUT THE BIBLICAL GOD. That somehow life spontaneously jumped into existence around 3.5 billion years ago and changed over long periods of time, increasing in complexity and diversifying into all the variations of life seen today. To be more specific, some use the phrase molecules-to-man or electron-to-engineer evolution. Or my favorite definition: “from the goo to you through the zoo” evolution. But ultimately, evolution is an attempt by a pagan religion to explain life without God. This attempt to overthrow God as Creator is nothing new. Actually, the idea of evolution is quite ancient. The Mayan culture, which began around 600 BC, incorporated a form of evolution into its religion. They believed the rain-god created humans by modifying previous creations; rivers were changed to fish, then to serpents and finally humans. The Greeks were teaching about evolution as early as the 7th century BC. But it appears they borrowed many of their evolutionary ideas from the Babylonians, Egyptians, and Indians. For example, one ancient Hindu belief in India suggests that the universe spontaneously evolved, and like a seed it grew and diversified into everything that exists over billions of years. Sounds familiar.
