The following is from GotQuestions: Is there any validity to the Zeitgeist movie? The “Zeitgeist movie,” which is available for viewing on the Web – http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com, is essentially a baseless conspiracy theory focused on attacking the Christian faith and the government of the United States. What is interesting, though, is that while nearly all the assertions put forth in the movie are completely wrong, the end fear promoted by the movie is correct and backed by Scripture (depending on one’s view of biblical eschatology). The purpose of this article is to address the first conspiracy theory (out of four) put forth in the movie—that Jesus is a mythological amalgamation of various pagan gods and deities invented by the Egyptians and other cultures. Time will not be spent addressing the two major claims that follow in the movie—that the U.S. government architected and planned the attacks that occurred on 9/11 (with assertions being made that a pattern of such domestic attacks exists in history) and that there is a major banking conspiracy attempting to control the finances of all U.S. citizens and ultimately, the world. In the end, a comment will be made concerning the last theory—that a one-world government is coming. Read more: https://www.gotquestions.org/zeitgeist-movie.html Related: Is Jesus a myth? I'm always encouraged when I ask someone if they are a Christian and they answer "No. I'm Roman Catholic." It confirms something that most Catholics know but it seems that the world doesn't know. There is a difference between biblical Christianity and Roman Catholicism. Although the Roman church holds to some of the main tenants of the Christian faith, at its core it has its own entity. It has many high-held traditions that are not found in the Bible. They are Roman Catholic traditions. Consequently, it shouldn't surprise us that Jews are very difficult to reach with the gospel. This is because many of them equate Christianity with Roman Catholicism. And why shouldn't they? When they glance at the television news at Christmas or at Easter, who is upheld by the secular world as "the head of the Christian Church"? It's the pope. Jews therefore believe that Christians bow down to graven images and they worship Mary and many other saints. To them, Christianity is a false religion, and one that should be kept at arm's length because at its very core it is in direct violation of the First and the Second of the Ten Commandments. Many Jews even equate Christianity with Adolf Hitler. Central to his twisted philosophy was a belief in the inherent superiority of the German race. But Christianity doesn't preach superiority. It instead preaches that you are to love your neighbor as much as you love yourself. Jesus even said to love our enemies, to pray for those that despitefully use us, to turn the other cheek, to give to those that ask of us--to do good to all men. Biblical Christianity is soaked in love of humanity, while Hitler's philosophy was saturated in the blood of pure hatred. So it makes no sense that anyone in his right mind could confuse the two . . . until we understand something important. All of us, I’m sure, would like to go to heaven if we could. Even if you are not a Christian, I’m sure if given a choice, you would choose heaven, whatever it is and wherever it is. I begin with a very simple observation. Not everyone is going to heaven. Jesus said, “Wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to life, and only a few find it” (Matthew 7:13-14). A line from a Negro spiritual says it well, “Everybody talkin’ ’bout heaven ain’t goin’ there.” Lots of people talk about heaven, and most people think they are going there, but that’s not what Jesus said. There are two roads in life–one leads to heaven, the other leads to hell. There are many on the road to hell, only they don’t know it. This means that millions of good, decent, religious people who think they are going to heaven will one day find out how wrong they were.
