"Flannery O'Connor is considered one of America's greatest fiction writers and one of the strongest apologists for Roman Catholicism in the twentieth century. Born of the marriage of two of Georgia's oldest Catholic families, O'Connor was a devout believer whose small but impressive body of fiction presents the soul's struggle with what she called the 'stinking mad shadow of Jesus.'" -Source: Flannery O'Connor (1925-1964) - New Georgia Encyclopedia
Southern Baptist leader Russell Moore lauds Flannery O'Connor (see: "Why Christians need Flannery O'Connor" by Russell Moore - CNN Belief Blog). Why would a Southern Baptist leader laud a woman who was "one of the strongest apologists for Roman Catholicism in the twentieth century?" Except for the fact that Russell Moore is a liberal and an ecumenist, I don't know. Okay, so maybe that is the answer.
