The following is from Seedshakers Gospel Tracts: Are you feeling lucky? Did you know that you would have more luck dying today, than winning the lottery? Everyday 150,000 people die and enter into eternity. The Bible says that those who have broken God’s Law (The Ten Commandments) will spend eternity in hell. The Bible says that God is the Just Judge of all the earth and will judge you for everything you have ever thought, said, and done. Please, come to your senses, if you have lied, stolen, looked with lust which is adultery (Matt 5:28), had hatred which is murder (1 John 3:15), and taken God’s name in vain, then you are a lying, thieving, blasphemous, murdering, adulterer at heart. That’s only 5 of the 10 Commandments. You deserve God’s wrath for choosing to go against your conscience. You have broken God’s Law and therefore will be punished in hell for eternity. Please, acknowledge that you deserve to be punished, and hear the gospel. 2,000 years ago Jesus Christ, God Himself died on the cross to pay your sin debt for breaking His moral Law. The born again Christian (John 3) has the assurance of eternal life (see below). When a Christian dies, he or she is ushered immediately into the presence of the Lord. For the believer in Christ, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8). Do you have this confidence?
"And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life." (1 John 5:11-13) "The one who believes in the Son has eternal life, but the one who refuses to believe in the Son will not see life; instead, the wrath of God remains on him." (John 3:36) See: Going to Heaven - how can I guarantee my eternal destination? http://onewayjesus.weebly.com/4/post/2013/09/going-to-heaven-how-can-i-guarantee-my-eternal-destination.html Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. - Titus 3:5-7
The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. - Deuteronomy 31:8

What is the origin of religion? From the earliest times, humans have looked around and above them and wondered about the world, the universe and the meaning of life. Unlike animals, humans have a built-in desire to understand how we got here, why we are here and what happens after we die. Adam and Eve knew God personally (Genesis 3) and spoke of Him (4:1). Their children brought sacrifices to the Lord (4:3-4). And during the time of their grandchildren, “men began to call on the name of the LORD” in corporate worship (4:26). In all of history and in every culture, people have felt a need to worship what they perceive to be the source of life. The Bible explains why—we are created in God’s image (Genesis 1:27), and God has set eternity in our hearts (Ecclesiastes 3:11). We were created to be in relationship with our Creator. The rituals and practices of religion began as an expression of the creature’s desire to worship the Creator. Maybe. Maybe not. It depends on the nature of the supernatural event and also on a number of other factors. Richard Dawkins says he probably wouldn’t believe. Historically, God has used miracles numerous times to reveal Himself, and many have believed, but many have also not believed. Even if God showed up at your door and you started believing in Him, that is not enough to give you eternal life. But consider this: God did show up on the earth (in the person of Jesus Christ) and worked many miracles, and although the world still dates history by His supernatural birth, some skeptics still refuse to accept any documentation or biblical evidence for His resurrection (Acts 1:3). Jesus was born of a virgin, but they accused him of being an illegitimate child (John 8:41). The wise men followed a star that pointed to the exact location of the Christ child (Matthew 2:9), but Herod wanted to kill Him. In radiant glory, angels announced His birth to the shepherds, but He died in naked shame on a cross. There is plenty of evidence for God’s existence in the creation and every person already knows that God exists. Skeptics suppress that knowledge, their understanding of the evidence, and their own consciences in unrighteousness (Romans 1:18–32; 2:14–16). Christians should continue using such evidence and arguments in their biblical apologetics as they witness for Christ. But God (Jesus Christ) has already knocked on the world’s door, and many did not listen. They have explained Him away as a good teacher (John 3:2; 7:12), a crazy man (John 7:20), or a deceiver (John 7:12). Approximately 2,000 years later, times have not changed very much (Ecclesiastes 1:9–10) and neither has the heart of man (Jeremiah 17:9). King of Kings and Lord of Lords by Henry Morris, Ph.D. “These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.” (Revelation 17:14) There is coming a time--perhaps not too far in the future--when all the kings and other rulers of the world will “have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast” (v. 13), the great humanistic world system of the last days, whose Satan-possessed leader will then have power “given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations” (13:7). Only one opponent will remain, the Lamb of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, against whom “the kings of the earth . . . take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us” (Psalm 2:2-3). Like them, are we ignoring warnings of God's coming judgment? The Bible gives us clear signs of the last days. Did you know the Scriptures say we will see:
But surely no educated person could believe that Noah and his ark ever really existed. Wouldn't it be impossible to fit millions of species of animals into one boat? And what evidence is there (if any) for a worldwide catastrophic flood? However...what if it did all happen exactly as the Bible says? What would that mean? Lent is a period of fasting, moderation, and self-denial traditionally observed by Catholics and some Protestant denominations. It begins with Ash Wednesday and ends with Easter Sunday. The length of the Lenten fast was established in the 4th century as 46 days (40 days, not counting Sundays). During Lent, participants eat sparingly or give up a particular food or habit. It’s not uncommon for people to give up smoking during Lent, or to swear off watching television or eating candy or telling lies. It’s six weeks of self-discipline. Question: "What is the meahning of Lent?” In this video we’ll see what the Bible has to say, and after - I’ll point you to some helpful resources, so stick around to the end. Lent began as a way for Catholics to remind themselves of the value of repentance. The austerity of the Lenten season was seen as similar to how people in the Old Testament fasted and repented in sackcloth and ashes (Esther 4:1-3; Jeremiah 6:26; Daniel 9:3). However, over the centuries Lenten observances have developed a much more "sacramental" value. Many Catholics believe that giving something up for Lent is a way to attain God’s blessing. But the Bible teaches that grace cannot be earned; grace is “the gift of righteousness” (Romans 5:17). Also, Jesus taught that fasting should be done discreetly: “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen” (Matthew 6:16-18). Jesus’ command to “wash your face” seems to conflict with the practice of rubbing ashes on one’s face on Ash Wednesday. Fasting can be a good thing, and God is pleased when we repent of sinful habits. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with setting aside some time to focus on Jesus' death and resurrection. However, repenting of sin is something we should be doing every day of the year, not just for the 46 days of Lent. If a Christian wishes to observe Lent, he is free to do so. The key is to focus on repenting of sin and consecrating oneself to God. Lent should not be a time of boasting of one’s sacrifice or trying to earn God's favor or increasing His love. God’s love for us could not be any greater than it already is. |
