To Moroni with Love

To Moroni with Love by former Mormon Ed Decker

The following is from Christian Ministries International:
Mormonism: Another Christian Denomination? By Jason Carlson and Ron Carlson

The October 17, 2005 issue of Newsweek magazine featured a cover story titled, "The Making of the Mormons". In 2005 the Mormon church celebrated the 200th birthday of Joseph Smith, Jr., the founder of Mormonism, which Newsweek describes as a "Christian denomination".

As part of their reporting on the Mormon church Newsweek interviewed the man who was then President of the Mormons, Gordon B. Hinckley (1995-2008). Unfortunately, though, Newsweek failed to ask Mr. Hinckley the tough questions and therefore did not provide its readers with an accurate understanding of what Mormons truly teach and believe.

This Newsweek interview provides a classic example of why our ministry labels Mormonism a “pseudo-Christian cult”. A religion that looks and sounds like genuine Christianity, while in reality is far different.

A Truly Wicked Sinner

The following is from Way of Life Literature:
The following is excerpted from "What Does It Mean to Be Justified" by God by Harry A. Ironside:

Some years ago a friend of mine was preaching in a certain place, and somebody came to him one day and said, "Could you come and see a woman who is very sick? We are afraid she is dying. She is troubled about her soul and doesn't seem to understand the way." Of course he gladly went as any of us would under such circumstances. As he entered the room and sat down beside the bed, the woman said, "Tell me what is necessary in order that my soul may be saved and my sins forgiven." He told her the old, old story, the story of the Cross. He told her how "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). He told her how, hanging on that cross in those awful hours of darkness, our blessed Lord Jesus, as the substitute for sinners, drank the cup of wrath that we deserved and made full satisfaction for iniquity; and now God can justify everyone who believes in Him, whom He raised from the dead.

Islam: What You Need to Know

Islam: What You Need to Know - Usama Dakdok (VCY America rally)
Description:
Usama Dakdok was born in Egypt and raised in a Christian home as the son of a Baptist pastor. He became a Christian at the age of 11. Going through Egyptian schools Islam was a mandatory subject. He furthered his knowledge of Islam by studying Islamic law in college. He came to the U.S. in 1992 and several years later in 2001 he founded the Straight Way of Grace Ministry. He travels throughout the United States equipping the saints to be effective witnesses of Jesus Christ to their Muslim neighbors as well as ministry to Muslims directly. Usama has conducted a full comprehensive English translation of the Qur’an and he has also released a two-volume set of books, "Exposing the Truth about the Qur’an: The Revelation of Error".

According to Usama, Islam is a barbaric and wicked cult. We see that from the phrase that terrorists have been known to exclaim while doing horrific acts. That phrase is "Allah Akbar!" Allah is not God. Allah is Satan. "Akbar" does not mean "great" it means "bigger". In other words, when a Muslim yells, Allah Akbar, he's really saying Satan is bigger.

Islam came along 610 years after Christ's resurrection. Along the way, every non-Arab country was forced into Islam. In fact, if not for the Crusades, America might be a Muslim nation today.

Is there anything more foundational that a person can point to that proves why Islam is at odds with Christianity? The key to that is understanding its leader, Muhammad, who had a very simple message: Jesus is not deity, he did not die on the cross and he did not rise from the dead.

Other things you can learn from this broadcast include:

--The Qur'an contains the words of Allah and the Hadith is the words of Muhammad.
--The definition of "abrogation".
--Why war is decreed for the Muslim.
--The correct meaning of some of the verses of this so-called loving, peaceful religion.
--Why Muslims are not to take Christians and Jews as friends.

The Religion of Islam - Ron Carlson

The following is from Christian Ministries International:
The Nature and Challenge of Islam by Jason Carlson

A few years ago my father and I had the privilege of holding a week of apologetic seminars in Tokyo, Japan. During our time there we were introduced to one of the leaders of the Japanese Muslim community. He was a middle-aged man from a Muslim country in Asia. He had been a Muslim his entire life, and for the past decade he had lived in Japan working to spread Islam’s influence in that country. My father and I had the unique opportunity to spend over an hour inside the heart of the Tokyo mosque, sharing the truth of Christianity with this leader of the Muslim community.

During the course of our conversation, this Muslim authority repeatedly declared, “Islam is a beautiful and peaceful religion”. Have you ever heard this claim before? If you’ve watched any news commentary shows or read any editorials in your local newspaper recently, I’d be willing to bet you have. Ever since the tragic events of 9/11, the Islamic propaganda machine and the secular media have been doing everything they can to convince the American public that in-spite of what we see on the news virtually every night, Islam really is a “beautiful and peaceful religion”. Unfortunately though, this claim is simply not reflective of the truth of Islam’s history and teachings, nor of its present day fruit.

Who is the Lady of Guadalupe?

The following is from GotQuestions.org:

Who is the Lady of Guadalupe? Were the apparitions of Mary at Guadalupe real?

In Catholicism, Our Lady of Guadalupe is the patron saint of Mexico, pictured as a woman in a blue mantle. Her hands are folded, her eyes are cast downward, and she is surrounded by a radiant glow. She is standing on a crescent moon supported by an angel underneath. This image is based on a series of five supposed appearances of the Virgin Mary in Mexico in the sixteenth century.

There are many different accounts of the Lady of Guadalupe, but what follows are the aspects of the story that appear most consistently. On December 9, 1531, a man named Juan Diego, an Aztec convert to Catholicism, was walking on Tepeyac Hill near Mexico City when he saw an apparition. Before him was a young Aztec girl. In the native Nahuatl language, the girl requested that a church be built on that hill in her honor. According to Diego, the girl was the Virgin Mary. When Diego told his story to the archbishop of Mexico City, Diego was instructed to return to the hill and ask for a sign to prove that she was indeed the Blessed Virgin.

When Diego returned to the place, the same girl appeared again and instructed him to gather flowers from the hill. The hill was normally barren, but at this time Diego found Castilian roses, which are not native to Mexico. The girl took the roses and placed them in Juan Diego’s cloak. When Diego returned to the archbishop and opened his cloak, the flowers fell to the ground. To their amazement, the inside of the cloak bore an image of the girl. Diego claimed he was visited by the girl three more times. She is now known as the Virgin of Guadalupe. The image imprinted in Diego’s cloak is on display now in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City.

Everyone dies, but not everyone goes to heaven!

The following is from GotQuestions.org:

Who will go to heaven?

People have different ideas about heaven. Many have no understanding of God at all, but still like to think of heaven as the "better place" where we all go when we die. Ideas about heaven are often no more than vague hopes, on par with "maybe I'll win the lottery some day." Most people don't give heaven much thought until they attend a funeral or a loved one dies. It is popular to refer to heaven as the place where "the good people go." And of course, everyone they know and love is included in the category of "good people."

But the Bible has a lot to say about life after death, and it contradicts popular opinion. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." Then in verse 36, Jesus goes on to say, "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them." Hebrews 9:27 says, "It is appointed to men once to die, but after this the judgment." According to these verses, everyone dies, but not everyone goes to heaven (Matthew 25:46; Romans 6:23; Luke 12:5; Mark 9:43).

Not This Man

The following is from ICR:

Not This Man
“Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.” (John 18:40)

Unfortunately, this is the attitude of every generation toward its Creator and Redeemer. Jesus Christ “was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not” (John 1:10-11).

“Not this man!” they cried, and still cry today. “We will not have this man to reign over us” (Luke 19:14). Even in a nation founded as a Christian nation, the name of Jesus Christ is banished from the schools, ignored in the halls of government, and blasphemed on the streets.

We are all Barabbas. I am Barabbas. You are Barabbas. Jesus, the just one, died for the unjust ones (you and I). "For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit..." - 1 Peter 3:18

The Islamization of Europe and America

The Islamization of Europe
VCY America - Crosstalk
Host: Jim Schneider Guest: Soeren Kern

Description:
Islam is advancing rapidly in Europe as well as here in the United States. As a result there's been an increase in crime and religious conflict that's been escalating at alarming proportions. Government organizations as well as the media often cover these incidents up because they claim such individuals merely have a distorted view of Islam. After all, to them, Islam is a religion of peace. This shows that leaders in Europe as well as the U.S. continue to drink at the well of complacency on this topic therefore little is accomplished in terms of slowing much less halting the advance of Islam.

Joining Jim to discuss this disturbing trend was Soeren Kern. Soren is a distinguished senior fellow of the Gatestone Institute, a non-partisan, not-for-profit international policy council and think tank dedicated to educating the public about the institutions of democracy and the rule of law, human rights, a free and strong economy, a military capable of ensuring peace at home and in the free world, energy independence and insuring the public stay informed of threats to our individual liberty, sovereignty and free speech. Soeren is also a senior analyst for Transatlantic Relations at the Strategic Studies Group. He specializes in European politics as well as U.S. and European defense and security related issues. He is a regular commentator about European politics and transatlantic relations. He is a dual citizen of the United States and Germany.

The Islamization of the United States
VCY America - Crosstalk
Host: Jim Schneider Guest: Soeren Kern

Description:
Yesterday Crosstalk looked at the effect of Islamization in Europe. From that perspective it's easy for some in the U.S. to claim there's nothing for us to be concerned about because the problem is on the other side of the Atlantic. Besides, we have a constitutional republic that would never allow for Shariah law.

Those excuses collapse under the simple reminder of incidents like 9-11, what occurred in Little Rock, Arkansas, Fort Hood, the Boston Marathon bombing, Chattanooga, Tennessee, and the San Bernardino incident.
