Prepare to have your faith shaken. The Battle for the Beginning - John MacArthur Description: Everyone knows that evolutionists and creationists dispute how the universe began. And regardless of which side of the battle line you’re on, most people harbor strong feelings about the issue of origins. Yet there are a host of important questions at the core of the battle that relatively few in either camp have bothered to ask—much less answer:

The PCUSA, which takes a “progressive” view of Scripture, asked the song’s writers, Keith Getty and Stuart Townend, if the church could change the lyrics from “Till on that cross as Jesus died / The wrath of God was satisfied” to “Till on that cross as Jesus died / The love of God was magnified.” The songwriters refused. Why would a denomination want to remove a hymn’s reference to God’s wrath? Mary Louise Bringle, a member of the PCUSA song committee, attempted to explain [...] Read more: http://www.worldmag.com/2013/08/no_gospel_without_wrath THE WORLD AND EVERYTHING IN IT - “A few more weary days” Sparks fly over “I’ll Fly Away.” Last week the U-S 6th Circuit Court of Appeals in Ohio ordered more hearings in the matter of just who owns the rights and royalties to the American classic “I’ll Fly Away.” http://www.worldmag.com/podcast/worldandeverything/TWAEII_2013Aug20_04.php Assuming that the people involved in this court case are Christians, I thought that it would be appropriate to address the issue of Christians suing each other. The following is from GotQuestions.org: Question: "What does the Bible say about lawsuits / suing?" Answer: The apostle Paul instructed the Corinthian believers to not go to court against one another (1 Corinthians 6:1-8). For Christians not to forgive each other and reconcile their own differences is to demonstrate spiritual defeat. Why would someone want to become a Christian if Christians have just as many problems and are just as incapable of solving them? However, there are some instances when a lawsuit might be the proper course of action. If the biblical pattern for reconciliation has been followed (Matthew 18:15-17) and the offending party is still in the wrong, in some instances a lawsuit might be justified. This should only be done after much prayer for wisdom (James 1:5) and consultation with spiritual leadership. The critic hopes that people will believe the claim in question is false simply on the basis that there is something objectionable about the person making the claim. Logical Fallacies: Introduction by Dr. Jason Lisle Whenever I hear people debating some issue (abortion, gun control, origins, religion, politics, etc.), I often spot a number of mistakes in their arguments. Mistakes in reasoning are called “logical fallacies,” and they abound in origins debates. I have often thought it would be fun to carry a little buzzer that I could push when someone makes a fundamental mistake in reasoning. Of course, that would be impolite. However, we should all become familiar with logical fallacies so that our mental buzzer goes off whenever we hear a mistake in reasoning. Logic (the study of correct and incorrect reasoning) has become a lost skill in our culture. And that is a shame. It is a very valuable tool, particularly for the Christian who wants to defend his or her faith better. Evolutionists often commit logical fallacies, and it is important that creationists learn to identify and refute such faulty reasoning. Sadly, I often see creationists committing logical fallacies as well. There is hardly anything more embarrassing than someone who advocates your position, but does so using bad reasoning! Read more: http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles/2009/07/27/logical-fallacies-introduction In this informative presentation Dr. Jason Lisle gives viewers a fast-paced course on logic, in addition to reviewing numerous logical fallacies, and giving examples of how evolutionists often use fallacious arguments in arguing for their position. ORDER DVD I don't necessarily agree with everyone in the (Social) Gospel Coalition, but this is a good message.
